Update: Behavior Modification

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about my struggle (or rather, my son’s struggle) to maintain focus and self-control in class. We started doing 30 minutes of yoga every few days, to see if that might be an effective tool at teaching Tyler to follow instructions and develop discipline.

The preliminary results are encouraging, to say the least:

As you can see, the N (“needs improvement,” or “NOT BLEEPING ACCEPTABLE”) and S (for “satisfactory” or “SO-SO, BUDDY”) marks were replaced this week with E (for “Excellent” or “EEEEEEEEE!!!!”) marks. And a smiley face!

I understand that one good week does not a permanent change make. We will definitely have to keep at it, but I am very proud of his effort.

I like your key to the letter grades. My high school report card was divided into “A for Acceptable” and “B for Better not happen again”. (“C” was unspeakable, which is not to say it never happened.)

  2. Wow! That’s so encouraging! Keep up the good work. :]
I really admire your patience and dedication.
Thank you for stopping by my blog.
